A Koopa's Revenge II Music Selections |SPOILERS|

Revealing the songs I've chosen, so far, to be in the game requires revealing a gameplay mechanic that relates to the music. So:

SPOILER WARNING!!!

In AKR2, whenever you die or complete a level the game goes from day to night, or night to day. This affects some blocks and certain enemy behaviours, among other things. Most level themes include 2 songs, one for the day and another for the night. And some levels, particularly castles, have one song all their own.

So here are the songs I plan to use in the game. I also have a number of songs Iwant to use but don't know where to put them yet, I made add them later.

I'm willing to take suggestions for music. Keep in mind I'm looking for original music over remixes. If you're going to go the remix route, I'd prefer older songs for two reasons: A, remixes of newer video game songs often sound worse than the original, and B, when people hear an older song they think, "Oh cool, I remember that from (game)," but when the hear newer songs they think, "You stole this from (game)." With remixes, the more obscure the better.

Sorry for so many suggestions but hopefully some will be good. Bye.

1) A little to techno and a little too short. Otherwise not bad.
2) Troopa, Koopa Troopa. It's just a bit too odd, well, maybe not. If this fits a castle after I've made some more (only one is done so far) I might use it.
3) Reminds me of Marx's theme. It's somewhat lacking in conflict though, seems more like waiting than doing.
4) I don't see this one working, it seems casual. And part of it sounds like farts.
5) Very videogamey. But a little slow and simplistic.
6) Not too far off from what I'm thinking of, but it really says garden to me and I haven't even played 1000 Year Door.
7) Nothing much happens until quite a bit into this one. I require instant action. Too long aswell.
8) I really like this one. Not a great loop but I think I can fix that. Tis in.

10) I like this one. It's icey without being too icey. And there's some action to it.

12) I think it's too buzzy. Sounds like the level would involve robots or take place in a giant alarm clock. I like the tempo though.
13) Better than the other volcano songs you've suggested so far, but it's pretty short and I don;t quite see it in the game.
14) This has the same problem all the other volcano songs had. It takes itself too seriously. this sounds like the world is ending.
15) My thoughts on the bonus have changed recently, so I'm not sure if this song is right for it. Seems a little too dangerous, the bonus is supposed to be fun.

1) Since the skeleyoshi's are like dry bomes they fall apart when you jump on them. Will their head topple fowards because it could fall into lava, esspecially the one next to the baby mario

1) There are a lot of level themes I forgot to put in. I've been adding to it all the time.
2) Not entirely sure. I had something going on in kind of a Mode 7 style with Koopa collecting coins, but I may ditch that idea.
3) It's no where near a beta. A beta means it's basically done but needs to be tweaked. It's more of an alpha satge at the moment. I'm almost done making the first world, and I've been fixing a lot of coding problems I had before the hiatus. I might let you test it if I can figure out a secure way of doing so. I don't want this game getting out.

sweet. the baby mario in the picture was like 'wtf is that flying thingie? oh noez -gets hit by fireball-' xD also how come the koopa got spikes on its shell? i tought it was only color... and the statues look evil..

It's the spiny shell, it's used for various things I'm not revealing yet. The statues ARE evil.

also.. can you change every statue position? like one doing 'peace' on the left arm.. and the next one doing the same thing except on the right arm.. its because it might get annoying seeing mario statues doing same position all the time especialy with the right arm...

Your focus won't be on the statues when you actually play the game. Should be fine. And it's not "peace" it's a V for victory. You think Mario kills numerous enemies and then declares peace?

Hi again. Before i state my suggestions i must say something. In a previous comment i suggested music for castle 2, i didn't see it was a pyramid or that it's music was decided. Just use the castle 2 music anywhere. With that being said here are my suggestions.

2) A boss could be a bobble head that bounces, climbs up walls and bounces between walls and whacks it's head like a hammer, could be second boss if you don't already have any better ideas. And when you hit it's head, the weak spot, it swings left and right with force. Health could be 5 jumps, 11 fireballs and 8 bones/hammers.

4) A boss could be mario magicing a candle into a monster that spits fireballls that stay in place and burn for 3 seconds (though only 5 can be on screen at a time), makes lava burst from set points on the floor (they could be marked red) and every 2 times it is hit sends out a fireball that permenently bounces around the arena. 7 jumps or 12 bones/hammers kill it, it is imune to fireballs. It could be third boss
5) A castle obsticle could be a a swarm of bats that fly through certain areas, but killing the 2 marker bats stops them from coming.
Some questions.
1) Are you going to use the peircer enemy idea i suggested a few news posts ago?
2) How many levels have you done now?
3) Could you post a continually replaying gameplay ovie, it would be entertaining.
Oh and inspectertaz, the red shell has spikes because that is what it's uniqwue ability is.

1) 1. There are elements to this I like and those I dislike. Regardless, I don't think it's quite the right fit. 2. This really doean't fit the game. If it was BattleToads I'd use it though.
2) It's a little similar to another boss I'm going to use, Jack-in-the-Box. And I think most bosses are going to be immune to projectiles. It just makes them too easy, no matter how many it takes to kill.
3) 1. Again, not Marioy enough. Could you imagine this on the map screen for a Mario platformer? 2. Heard this before, and same criticism I gave to the last song.
4) A fire boss is almost a necessity. A candle could do it, a lot of creaive ways to fight a candle.
5) I interpereted this two ways. I don't really think either way would work wel, unfortunately.

1) Maybe. I haven't added them yet, but I'm not that far into the game level and enemy wise. I've still got to work out a few bugs before I go much further.

5) Too ambient, and it takes a while to start.

1) 1. Not bad, but not inspiring. 2. For an original song it sounds a hell of a lot like Hyrule Castle in A Link to the Past.
2) Pretty good, but I think the steel drum takes a lot away from it.
3) A little too calm and a little too short.
4) 1. Too much buildup, and may be too intense. 2. Somewhat static, unchanging.I'm not dure if it's fun enough.
5) 1. This could actually work. Contrary to many of the songs you've suggested this one might be too action oriented. Though it does remind me of James Bond. 2. I'm not feeling this one is right. Sounds too open and theatrical.

1) In case you havn't decided how the jack in the box boss you are creating will attack, here is an idea, it hops around and the head occasionally pops up, that is when you jump it, it attacks by opening it's lid and sending out 3 jacka jacks, It can also do a head smack on the ground that causes part of the ceiling to fall onto the edge of the arena.

3) An enemy idea for the jack in the box boss could be jackajacks, they simply hop around and always follow koopa but what makes them unique is that the face part of them can sometimes spit a slow bouncing fireball at koopa that can be jumped over and hurt other jackajacks. They can be hurt when they are closed up since they arn't as strong as the main boss jack in da box. Ithink these are my best enemy idea yet!
4) A ice level enemy could be bumbty's, the penguins from mario party 8. They come in 2 types, red beak and yellow beak, while yellow beak bumpy's walk in a set pattern and slide on their stomach's towards koopa if they spot him, the red beak ones will coninuasly throw snowballs in koopa's direction, occasionally down slopes so the snowball gets fairly big (1.5 times koopa's hight).

6) A ghost house enemy could be a pair of blood shot yes that are in the scenery, some do nothing but eye koopa, others shoot a bolt of lightning at him which doesn't seek.
7) A forest enemy could be bushy bill's. They are basically bushes but if koopa comes near a clawed arm swipes at him. They can move but only if koopa's back is turned.
That's all for now but i have one question.
When i did that rick roll prank on you, did you see it coming or did you actually fall for it? Please answer honestly.

2) 1. GAY. 2. Also gay. 3. Heard it before. Not quite as gay as the others.
3) Seems like it would be pretty chaotic. Too much going on at once.
4) Seems a little cliche on both types. Also there won't be any slopes in the game.
5) I really don't see this one fitting too well. The bubbly sounds are quite distracting.
6) I dunno. I was thinking of making the Ghost Houses more serious.
7) That's not a bad idea, but I'd have to change the name, sounds too much like Bullet Bill. How would these enemies be defeated?

I fell for it, then I listened to the whole song. Twice.

In my opinion, I think the two cave songs should swich places. I fell they'll fit in better.

I'm planning on replacing the night song anyway, so I'll see how things fit with the final songs. Nice to know people are listening.

Enwmy ideas.
1) An enemy for sky could be cloud platforms that when you spep on them close inwards on koopa so jump quick. They could be called cloud crunchers.
2) An enemy for a pyramid or cave in a desert world could be a sarcougeacus (the things they put dead bodies in that arn't coffins). If koopa comes near one a skeleton hand shoots out at him. Some could raise a hand and shoot their fingertips as bullets. They could double as platforms.
3) An enemy for volcano's could be lava lunchers. They are small blobs of lava that squelch along, but if you come close to pone there is a 1/3 chance it will grow legs and chase kopa for 10 seconds before turning back to normal.
4) An enemy for a ghost house could be the upside down ghosts from luigi's mansion that drop bombs.
5) An enemy for Underwater could be mora sneels. They stay in rocks nut if koopa comes close they shoot out and bite him.

1) I don't think that needs to be an enemy. Might make a decent platform.
2) Seems too Castlevania. Not too many of that level type anyway.
3) That's imaginative. I might be able to turn that into something workable.
4) Not scary enough.
5) Too much like the eels in NSMB.

First one's too popular. Second one's pretty good, but it's also in a popular submission, though I don't think it's as recognisable. If nothing else comes up I'll use it.

i was thinking of a cheat where you can control others... nah... then it would look like crash of the titans without level ups... or storing into pocket? nah... will turn more into mind over mutant...

or koopa turns into a were koopa at night? NAAAAAAAH! sounds like more of sonic unleashed...

now for a random question.

can there be a cheat of robotnik head? also can they get special attacks? like koopa with pico head = machine gun.... robotnik = PINGAS... weegee head = weegee stare. but not for long time... for very long range (like weegee) will have to recharge for a few minutes... and for close range (like robotnik) will have infinant.. no recharging or stuff.

Boss ideas
1) How about mario magicing a tube of jellyton into a gooey monster than attacks by inflating in a spli second if koopa is near, throwing goo balls, strech punching across the arena (duck to avoid), hammer slamming it's arms, turning into a small blob and jumping up under koopa and throwing a big goo ball that could bounce back and knock him over so you can jump on him, beacause any other time you would be bounced off. 10 jumps kill it, could be a second to last boss.
2) Maybe you could turn a ROB block into a robot like ROB that shoots it's right fist, uses the left one as a boomerang, has laser eyes and when jumped and damaged jumps and creats a schockwave which must be jumped, could be second or third boss.

1) 1. I really like this one, but I'm afraid it might be too slow. I'll have to see when I get the boss done. 2. Not bad, but I'm trying to avoid anything chiptuney. The length on both was good.
2) Funky. Too funky.
3) It's okay, but too much speech. And that long beep is annoying.
4) I found it pretty repetitive, and not a great loop.
5) Pretty good, but the sounds aren't quite right. they seem futurey.

1) I think it's gelatin. I don't know, goo sounds like a lot of work in the animation department, and I'm not sure I'm up to it.
2) I like the block idea, but not really the other stuff.
