MegaTankMan, Webcomic, and my Stupid Video

Just released a new game, MegaTankMan. It's a NES Megaman style game starring the Captain from Tankmen. Worked my ass off on this for the last few weeks. Check it out.

Next up, I started a webcomic. As a head-ups I'm flat-out telling you I'm not actually drawing new strips each comic. I'll be reusing a lot of graphics because if I did draw and scan a new comic four times a week I wouldn't have time to work on anything else. With that out of the way, it's mostly based on dumb things people around me say, and miscommunication. Check it out too.

hey i know i have not posted in months but i have some ideas for you. world 6 boss snow ninja. 1 it throws ice shurikens. 2 jumps around the area. 3 it trys to hit you with its ice sword. but sometimes it throws snowballs that pile up to make a way to jump on its head. jump 5 hits to beat hamers / bones 9 hits.fireballs 3 hits. new enemy idea bob omb buddy. if it sees you it will blow up. however if you are fast you can jump on it and grab it and throw it.

That boss seems to require a lot more animation than a lazy person like me will supply.

Not going to use the buddy, already have a bob-omb like enemy called the greg-egg.

Sweet sweet. You know I entirely forgot to add in R2's animations. I should get on that.

I've played the megatankman game and it is REALLY addicting. I spent a whole hour playing it ... and failing. Pherhaps the player should have more than three lives? Either way it was quite enjoyable.

The webcomic is funny; I'm guessing the blond guy is a pervert. Did you by chance base them on people you know; like mike and steve?

Also; something just occured to me. You and the other three stooges created your first content in high school; how long have you all known each other anyway?

Very good content this time; I'll keep checking back on the webcomic reguarly.

Also I have a few koopa 2 ideas.

Enemies

I was looking at Disney Toontown stuff a few days ago (used to play it years ago) and I noticed the 'cogs' were named after business slang. That's given me a few ideas for enemy's.

1) Name:Cold caller

Appearence: A shivering telephone with eyes

Attacks: Will swing the recever at koopa.

How to kill: Jump it when receiver is swung.

2) Name: The Big Cheese

Appearence: A block of cheese with a suit and two stubby legs.

Attacks: High jumps and rolling cheese balls left and right sililtaniously

How to kill: One of anything; harder than it seems as they are quite fast little buggers.

3) Name: Short change

Appearence: A metallic green dollar with feet and angry eyes. Has a spike on its head

Attacks: Damages koopa if he jumps it and also charges sideways.

How to kill: Lure it towards lava or a wall. If koopa kills it with a hammer he gets thre coins, or jusr 'short change'.

4) Name: Spin Doctor

Appearence: A blue and green striped spinning top with a doctors hat

Attacks: Spins after koopa before becoming dizzy.

How to kill: Wait for it to become dizzy and then jump it.

5) Name: Loan Shark

Appearence: A golden sharky the whale with dolar signs for eyes.

Attacks: Jumps above water like a big bertha. Also spits out a bunch of coins. Swims faster than a Sharky the whale.

How to kill: Hammers or bones.

6) Name: Pencil pusher

Appearence: A pencil with arms and legs

Attacks: Immune to jumps; jumps up high if koopa jumps over it thus hurting him.

How to kill: 2 fireballs or one of anything else besides jumps.

Like them? Will any work?

'Tis the beauty of Megaman. It's hard but you keep trying.

Didn't really make a conscious decision for Mick to be a pervert, but looking at the first half dozen strips, it looks like he is. Says more about me than the character. The characters are loosely based on a number of people I know, but no single person.

We've known eachother for varied times, ranging from since kindergarten to middle of highschool.

Good to know at least two people are reading the webcomic.

Musics:
Map- A little bit too far in the right direction. Something in between this and what you usually suggest might work. Kinda sounds circusy.
Ice-Totally the wrong type of game song. Doesn't really have to be too icey. It's more important that it fits Mario.

Enemies:
1) I don't think good Mario enemies have times to kill thme, just techniques. Any enemy that's too difficult or timeconsuming to killl willl just be avoided.
2) Seems to do too much. Simplicity is king for basic enemies. With a maximum of three hits with health that's hard to replenish all enemies have to be avoidable at every instance.
3)So, it's a spiketop that chases the player. Seems too annoying having it chase you and not be jumpable.
4) More of a 3D mario enemy. 2D Mario has never been about killing enemies and then moving on.
5) WOuldn't need to be gold or anything but a jumping sharky might appear somewhere.
6) How would you kill it without fire? It jumps when you juumps so it's either be impassable or the jump wouldn't mean much.

I like that the enemies weren't just Mario badguys but with mustaches, but the behaviours seem too complicated.

Hi again; I have a new enemy idea and this one is really good; at least ... I think it is anyway.

Name: Glad Hander (based on a business slang term)

Appearence: A short but wide purple orange spotted musroom with two short arms and LARGE hands that are shaped in the 'stop' position. It has eyes like a bricklet but also a large frown.

Attacks: Arms- Touching the arms while they move will hurt koopa.
Blocking- the Glad hander ia unique because depending on how its arms move it it can be immune to attack yet vulnerable as well. Here is how they move.

Over the top- Blocks Jumps, hammers and bones.

To the side- Blocks shell slides, fireballs and thunder bolts.

Thus you should wait until its arms are positioned for your intended attack.

How to kill: When hands are to the side use jumps, hammers or bones. When hands are up use shell slides, fireballs or lightning.

This could work because you DON'T need a shel to beat it; just jump when the arms are down.

What do you think? Is it a good idea? Better than the Pipelet?

And speaking of Pipelets; when you sent me a picture of one didn't you say you needed a new name for them? I've got three good names.

1) Pipey Pat

2) Pipe Buster

3) Pipe Spout

Sounds more like a boss than a standard enemy. I'd definitely ignore this enemy rather than kill it.

I was just thinking of calling them Pipemo. But Pipelet has grwon on me, though it suggests they're small, which they aren't.

megatankman is great. even tough its hard. i keep failing most of the time. i cant even beat the first level.

like the comics. and lol at the pervert blonde guy.

heres another idea for KRII

Boss(es):

1: Name: Toad Bros (ice or air)
NOTE: two toads which looks almost the same except either different colors, cloathing size etc etc.

Attacks:

1: start throwing hammers high and low, catching them
2: goes in the center of the arena and one of them spins the other and he starts spinning all around the stage after you. will fall down and dizzy for a few (chance to attack)
3: After the 'spinner' gets defeated, the other Toad will go crazy and throw the hammers randomly. he gets dizzy and another chance to attack.
4: when both are defeated, they stand back up and jump on each other, they do a final big spin attack and fall down.

Seems like I'll have to add an easy mode to MegaTankMan.

Glad at least 3 people are reading the comics.

Not the worst boss idea, but I don't think I really want to try and make it work. Quite complicated.

guess so. but i think you should add a mini boss and when you defeat him you get a powerup. by the way, is there only portal man?

you should try post on another website like facebook. maybe more people will read em..

moar ideas:

1: Boss: Gassyoshi (air)

NOTE: a brown-green colored yoshi which is very gassy all the time.

attacks: 1: flings brown mushrooms which can damage you.
2: farts on the koopa and makes him 'confused' (controls are turned the opposite until the fart cloud is gone)
3: jumps in a cloud wall, and goes to either left or right, and then shoots a slimeball (chance to attack)

2: boss: Icey-pillar (ice world)
NOTE: a caterpillar made out of ice.

1: runs to the left and right for a few times
2: gets tired and falls asleep (fireflower is in a cage closeby)
3: after you get the fireflower, you can attack it a few times.
[when you hit it, the caterpillar jumps up and down and ice falls on you, no dodging. will take your firepower away]
4: after the only body part left is its head, the caterpillar will get mad and roll from left to right fast. jump on its head to make it stop and get another fireflower to kill it.

hits: cage: 2, caterpillar 3 fireballs + jump. other powerups doesnt have effect.

There's only portal man. That's why the game automatically starts you on his stage.

You know, that's not actually a bad idea. I've got it on my MSN message thing, but haven't done facebook.

You might have missed it but for the bosses I'm having orinary everyday objects transformed into monsters. Didn't you see the video?

About the second boss, getting a powerup really can't be part of 2D Mario boss. 3D Mario sure, but powerups are your health in 2D Mario, and it doesn't make sense to constantly give the player more health, or have unavoidable powerup loss.
