A Koopa's Revenge Gold Demo 3

I uploaded another demo of A Koopa's Revenge Gold. Link above.


It's not a huge update. Much of the work went into making it 60fps, and accounting for the change. But two new levels are playable.


Notable Changes:

  • Framerate increased from 40fps to 60fps.
  • New (placeholder) map screen.
  • Entirely mouseless gameplay.
  • Prerendered some graphics to improve performance.
  • Backgrounds recoded and prerendered to be more efficient when scrolling.
  • Updated collision detection for terrain and blocks.
  • New and updated backgrounds.
  • Levels 2-2 and 3-1 are playable.
  • Mario babies changed to balloons.
  • Level-complete and death screens updated to chalkboard look. (Still incomplete)
  • Functioning warp pipes.
  • Player turning animation.
  • Framerate counter.
  • Feathers float down properly instead of acting like fireflowers.
  • Added four frames of coyote time.


EDIT: Fixed the running over one-tile-wide gaps bug, and uploaded the fixed version.


Not looking for any specific feedback this time. Just felt like sharing. Feel free to Let's Play or stream it, if you feel inclined.

good demo and all but like do you plan on changing the gravity. i found it pretty hard jumping from place to place.

i found the secret in 2-2 is that suppose to be the secret area from the first game in the desert with the mario boss in forest?

Uh, no you didn't? I think I would have remembered putting that in there.

not trying to be rude in anyway its just i found the gravity being slow and the jumping a little bit difficult. if there is anyway to make the jumping a little more spaced out id appreciate that very much. thank you and have a wonderful year.

No offense taken. I can't really change the gravity much because the levels are designed around the player's specific physics. Still, I'd like to improve it if I can, within the limits of the design. Not sure what "make the jumping a little more spaced out" means though. It's hard to describe controls, so I appreciate you trying.
