I've decided to overhaul the whole map and saving systems I've set up for Koopa 2. So, hooray for setbacks.
You may have seen the map in a screenshot I posted a while ago. The final map won't look much like that. I've been comparing the game to NSMB on the DS as I've been working on it, but now NSMBW comes along and raises the bar, particularly with the map screens. NSMB maps were atrocious. So I'm going to make the maps more dynamic and more interesting.
I'm also going to make it so the Bowser Coins act more like Star Coins. So you can collect a certain number in a level, probably four, and they add to your completion percentage. Killing all the babies in a level will probably get counted too. Maybe babies you've already killed will show up as Luigi babies or something like that.
Point of the post, I want some input on what the new map should be like. What do you like and not like about map systems in Mario games? I'm thinking of making it all one big map like SMW, does that sound good?
P.S. Before anyone asks, I've been too busy during the holiday season to get much Flash work done.

Darn, another setback, though I guess those are to be expected when waiting for an awsome game (like resident evil 5). I have some map ideas.
1) Grass world- Maybe besides the greenery you could have a cliff with a flowing waterfall and a rainbow. A creek could go through the middle of the map and shrooms could be growing out of a giant tree stump. Hammer toads could wander the map.
2) Desert world- Cactus's and pokey's. Maybe a sandstorm could move around the map and if you run into it then you would have to do a mini level to get out of the tonado (like in windy valley in sonic adventure). Hammer toads and boomerang toads wander the map.
3) Ocean world- Whales and whirlpools in the ocean. Maybe a coral reef like the great barrier reef could be one of the levels. Or maybe a sunken pirate ship that floats up and down. Maybe a tropical island with yoshi natives. Hammer dolphins wander the map.
4) Candy world- You could add a river of maple syrip witb marshmallow stepping stones. Perhaps an ice cream mountain that is strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. You could add a liquirice jungle as well. Toads with candy cane boomerangs wander the map.
5) Sky world- Maybe in the day time their could be gentle breeze, sunlight, white clouds amd hurricanes. But at night there could be a violent thunder storm with lighting, heavy rain and tornado's. Magitoads wander the map.
6) Ice world- Maybe a blizzard and penguins (penguins are my favourite animal). Also there could be ice and if koops steps on it then it could break and you have to do a mini swimming level. Theior could be an ice cave at the middle of the map, inside is opaque crystals, light frost layers and a pool of icy water. Ice toads wander the map.
7) Volcano world- A big volcano could be in the center of the map and after every level completed or failed it will erupt and make lava cover some parts of the map which stops koopa from getting through. That means that koopa will have to take a differant route. Eventually koopa get's inside the volcano and into the lava chamber (the castle maybe?). After that koopa goes below the volcano to the final world. Fire toads wander the map.
8) Underground world- Dark and dismal with purplish black rock and green water like the cragmite homeworld in Ratchet and clank tools of destruction.
3 main features.
1) Everytime koopa completes a level for the first time rocks and rubble will fall from the top of the cave, if koopa is hit he must do a rock dodging level, if koopa survives he gets 3 extra lives.
2) On the home stretch to mario's castle there are 3 tanks, every time koopa moves they fire a bullet bill, if it hits koopa he must do a tank level. Completing it destroys the tank that fiored the shot.
3) All types of toads plus sledge toads wander the map.
What do you think of those ideas?

Interesting ideas. Seems to imply individual maps for each world.
