I've decided to overhaul the whole map and saving systems I've set up for Koopa 2. So, hooray for setbacks.
You may have seen the map in a screenshot I posted a while ago. The final map won't look much like that. I've been comparing the game to NSMB on the DS as I've been working on it, but now NSMBW comes along and raises the bar, particularly with the map screens. NSMB maps were atrocious. So I'm going to make the maps more dynamic and more interesting.
I'm also going to make it so the Bowser Coins act more like Star Coins. So you can collect a certain number in a level, probably four, and they add to your completion percentage. Killing all the babies in a level will probably get counted too. Maybe babies you've already killed will show up as Luigi babies or something like that.
Point of the post, I want some input on what the new map should be like. What do you like and not like about map systems in Mario games? I'm thinking of making it all one big map like SMW, does that sound good?
P.S. Before anyone asks, I've been too busy during the holiday season to get much Flash work done.

well what i like about the map systems in mario games is like the NSMBW... as in not moving from one to another like SMW. kinda annoys me and takes a while.

What about a big map with plentiful shortcuts that are available all the time. I like the idea of having one big map, and if time is the only reason you don't like one big map I can probably find a fix.
