A Koopa's Revenge II New Character

I'm chugging along on Koopa 2, so I thought I'd treat the people with some more gameplay footage. A much requested addition to the game is revealed. Sorry there's no music. As usual the graphics aren't final.

Excellent, a new playable character. Maybe you should change the games nake to "koopa and goomba's revenge" ... just joking.
I wonder who the third playable character is, it obviously won't be a toad or anything on mario's side.
You mentioned on a response to a comment on youtube that you may add other characters if you can come up with more. Do any of these suggestions interest you?

The bristle would have a few special abilities due to its appearence. If basic enemies like a toadlet touched it then they would die due two the spikes. Also if you pressed ctrl then the spikes at the side of the bristle would shoot out a little to poke at a range.

Also, does goomba differ to koopa in any way besides apperence?

None of the other characters will differ other than appearances. So any new characters would have to be different primarily in a visual sense. Can't have Birdo without egg shooting etc.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH HHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! YES!!! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.... okay, I need to calm down. Yay for goomba. My one problem, Koopa still appears to run very slowly, even at top speed. For some reason, Goomba looked faster. What level was that shroom tops area, (because it wasn't the first one) and where's the character select? It looked like the airship. Also, the fungi beetles also seem a little slow. Maybe make them faster, so they're harder. That's all.

He's not slower, that level was just lagging. I had to turn the quality on the video capture up to prevent tearing so it caught a bit of lag. I actually fixed what was causing the lag like 2 hours after I made the video.
The shrooms were in level 1-7. I'll leave it at that.
Trust me, the fact that they're slow actually makes them harder. Particularly when you encounter them in an area with low ceilings.

Thats sort of a happy accident. In order to keep the transitions smooth the shell remains as the center of the character, which makes it look like it's heavy, his center of gravity.

You know, I like that name better than the name I gave them. Fungi Beatles are now Buzzytoads.

I just noticed something in the video. If you pause the movie as soon as it switches to the pyramid then you can see a mini jumping pirahna shroom. Does that enemy type have a name? If not you could call it a nipper shroomlet. (Shroomlet because toadlets are like smaller versions of toads so the "let" means smaller".

I never really named it, but I was thinking Jumping Piranha Shroom, like the Jumping Piranha Plants in SMW. And they're not smaller, they're the same size.

Questions
1) Have you started work on drawing pipelets, if possible when you're done could you PM me a picture of them as I did think them up. And for all i know you may have changed them a bit.

2) You said you fixed the lag in the level, what was causing the lag anyway? Incorrect code? Wrongly used functions? Just so you know I'm only repeating flash phrases you have said as I can't do it for the life of me.

3) This is more of a non gameplay question but will I (and the others who continuiosly give ideas) be mentioned in the credits. If so then great. But when it comes to my username could you put a pipelet next to it as I craeted them?

4) Not even mario relsted but just pure curiosity. Who is your favourite sonic character (Mine would be Bean the Dynamite as her is hyperaxctive and crazy ... like me :P).

5) Why did scoop 2 get cancelled? I know I like the koopa series more but the game was funny it its own way. Dd you just get lazy or were there other reasons?

Music, Map:
1) Just weird, this one is.
2) Too happy. Really got on my nerves.
3) I don't like the overall sound. It's just too goofy. I want something casual, not too serious, but not goofy.

Ice:
1) I heard this one before. Too much ambience and too creeeeeepy.
2) Better. I want to hear more "fun time spent in the snow" and less "cold isolation of winter" type songs.
3) Just doesn't really fit the Mario tone. The ice map from SMB3 is about as far in this direction as I'd like it to go.

Answers:
1) Haven't started yet, they'll probably be just pipes with eyes and feet. I imagined them having the exact same eyes as the bricklets. Not saying they will but that's how I imagine them.
2) Too many bricks to render, I replaced the vector bricks with a more detailed .png. It looks a lot better now.
3) Yeah, I've got a list somewhere of all the people who've made significant suggestions to the game. Depending on the style of the credits I may or may not be able to accomadate your pieplet.
4) Sonic. I liked Knuckles when I was younger, but now it's Sonic.
5) Numerous reasons. I made it a little too long, and bythe time I made it halfway through all the code I used seemed so crappy compared to what I was capable at the time. I'm having some of the same problems with Koopa 2, but I probably won't cancel it again, too many people are counting on me making it. With Scoop 2, nobody was all that interested, so I felt it was okay to drop it.
I never finish most of my projects (I've started making a golden cheesecake 2 three times already). Some ideas just don't pan out. And sometimes I force myself to finish something that isn't too great and the results aren't worth it (Sdioretsa).

You work now on World 3.

I've known about the fireball thing for a while now. And I still can't figure out what's causing it. That's something that may have to wait until the beta testing to get fixed. His hands press on the wall, for pushing blocks or what not, which probably won't end up in the game, it's not at all a glitch. Anyway, I won't be fixing any glitches for the demo, it will remain as is.

By the way, who is Kevin Bacon? Also, I prefer fungi beetles to buzzy toads in name. Although, if we're changing names, I think shroombas sounds better than toadlets. Just a thought.

Kevin Bacon is an American actor, best known for his starring role in Foot Loose. Well, the name isn't too big of a deal. Reading them again I'm not sure which is better. Probably because I'm drunk, lulls.

Chinese one was worse because it didn't allow you to submit a Flash not rated E. Which ruined my April Fool's flash.
Music, Boss:
1) Much too Banjo Kazooie. And too damn long. Really doesn't fit with waht I'm planning.
2) Feels kinda static. The overall mood isn't bad.
3) This one kinda bores me. It doesn't really matter though, I already have Final boss music.

Ice:
1) Not bad. But it just feels a little weak.
2) Also not bad, but I'm not getting that Mario feeling from it. At least not for most of the song.
3) This'll be another for the maybe pile. I'm not qute satisfied with it, but it's one of the better suggestions so far.
4) Can't use a remix of Ice Cap Zone. It's just too much a Sonic 3 song.

Volcano:
1) Too much atmosphere, not enough musics.
2) Really repetitive. Just felt te same the whole way through.
3) I think I heard this one before. Doesn't really feel like music for a level.

Final boss idea

Mario fights koopa in a multi floor battle in a rebuilt version of the mario bot from the first game. There would be a warp pipe to take you to each part of the body which would be like a mini boss. To get to the head you would have to destroy all the other parts first.

Attacks

Warp pipe room.
In the rom with the warp pipes, an endless supply of toadlets will keep coming from a toadlet sized warp pipe.

Right arm

The right arm looks like a hammer with a cannon attached. It has a small plaster on the back of the hammer that must be jumped.
It smacks on a set part of the platform and after 2 smacks it will fire out 3 greg eggs.

Left arm

The left arm is just like a normal limb. It has a plaster on the thumb which must be jumped on.
It attacks by slamming down from above into 3 possible places and by smalling the middle and causing a shockwave.

Feet

The feet are fought on the very bottom of the arena. They will continuesly stomp which sends out shockwaves and if koopa is stomped it will kill him instantly. Each shoe has a plaster on the top. You must jump on each one a few times but this is harder than it seems as the feet are always going up and down.
When the feet legs are destroyed a warp pipe comes from between the legs remains (Innuendo alert) which leads to the body.

Body
Inside the body is a center platform for koopa to stand on, 2 big batteries and 2 raised platforms that each have an unreachable hammer toad on it.
The body doesn't attack koops directly but to destroy the batteries and the hammer toads koopa must navigate through a few tight corridors, avoiding spikes and lava, to step on the switches that blow up the batteries and kill the hammer toads.

Once all body parts minus the head are destroyed the head (with mario at the controls) will shoot up through the ceiling and a ladder will fall which allows koopa to follow. I the room before the last part of the fight a check point is reached.

Head

The head will fly around and drop fire balls that will light the ground for a little while. It also swoops down at koopa. Its last attck is its eyes will glow and shoot a pair of lasers in koopas direction.
To destroy the head you must jump on mario when the head swoops. After a few jumps the head explodes but mario survives and faces koopa unprotected.

Unprotected mario
Mario will run around jumping, throwing fireballs, throwing hammers and using his hat as a boomerang. A secret attack is if mario is shel slided he will catch koopa and will seat drop him.

Jump on mario about 5 times and he will explode, cue the ending.

Interesting, but I've got some ideas of my own for the final boss.
Seeems a little drawn out, and doesn't work with my good/bad ending idea.

Well, Eatemupstudios, I like that idea. Although for unprotected mario, every time you hit him, he should get a star and be invincible for a while. But I don't like him dying at the end, it cuts off the chances of a sequel to Koopa 2. But other than that, epic sounding fight.

Okay, one more thing. The Para-toadlet didn't seem to be jumping, it just looked like the wings were just an extra hit. Also, can you upload a list of the level names? Please? Here's a bribe of possible musics.

I watched the video. Seems like I just jumped on the paratoadlet before it had a chance to jump. They do jump. Why would you want to know the level names?

Music:, Boss:
1) Not all that bad, but the intro makes for a slow start and a bad loop. Boss songs need to jump right in.
2) The sounds in this one are just irritating.
3) Might be too famous, at least it's not VG famous. I'd also prefer to keep metal out of the game.

Castle) Well, that's certainly interesting. There were parts I liked, but overall I don't think I want to use it.

???) Meh, it's no more special than any other SMW castle remix.

2)i think that if it is going to be anyone special i think it should be hard to get that character because it could be invincible and you would have to beat the game in a limited time to unlock him!!!

1) I haven't decided yet. It may be a certain number of star coins or something like that.
2) It won't be anything special in terms of abilities. All the characters play exactly the same, they just look different.
