Posted by Lambtaco - February 9th, 2011

Just finished up the ice-cave level, been working on it all day and night. Four levels, and five bosses to go.

Four levels to go

Looks like it is going to be fun, but when will we be able to find out?

Whenever it's finished. Can't make any promises, 'cause when I do, it always ends in disappointment.

this is takin 4evr!

WHOO! ICE CAVE!

Very enthusiastic.

lets hope this game is gonna be finished THIS year...

I am immune to all forms of sarcasm and long division. I laugh at your pitiful attemtps to steal the Eye of Moore.

five bosses left to make? How does that work?
Factory.
Airship.
Bad Ending Final Boss?
Good Ending Final Boss?
Awesome Ending Final Boss?
Is that how?d

Pretty much. I've been flip flopping a bit though. I'm not sure if I want three final bosses or just two.

I've been away a while and look how much rpogress has been made; this is great! And taking a full twenty four hours to work on it; such dedication.

I can tell this game will be awesome; maybe even better than LBP2 which is REALLY saying something.

I may as well suggest some music to make up for the time I've been away.

Maybe I'll be on more from now on; I've just got some things that take up a lot of my time. But I havn't forgotton about koopa 2, don't worry.

Also; that outlined block in the picture looks orange to me ... is that to do with the secret switch palace?

I wouldn't call it 24 hours. It was really closer to 12 hours.

Only played the demo for LBP2. IS it really all that different from the first?

No need to make up for things. It's okay if you have a life.

Big Castle:
1) Well, it's too Megaman. I don't think there's anyone my age who played video games who doesn't know this song. 1/5
2) Interesting. It's got a nice feel to it. With that bit cut out it could loop. But it might be a bit too intense, or maybe not. Maybe it's too fast? I really can't decide on this one. Better than what I've got right now, I think. It doesn't feel quite as evil as the current theme. 1.5-3/5
3) Too calm. I think it needs to feel like something evil is coming. It has to have some finality (is that a word?) to it. It's not bad, but it's not suitable. 1/5

Map:
1) I can see this fitting in many different games. But just not a MArio game. 1.5/5
2) Too complex. A Mario map theme should be very short (like SMB3 or SMW) in the range of 10-15 seconds, because you'll likely only spend a few moments on thje map screen. 1/5

Plains:
1) I like the simplicity, but it hardly feels marioish to me. Fairly abrupt ending. Doesn't seem lke something I'd want to hear all the time. 1.5/5
2) Yuck. Really doesn't fit.As a rule I'd say anything you can't hum is too complicated.I know there's only like two melodies to it, but VG music is best kept simple. Also the whole Spyro thingus.

A note: I've changed the plains theme to be a more general theme, and the sky is now the athletic theme. Like how Mario 3 and World had two songs that weren't really based too much on the terrain, but on how the level is played. Calmer levels will have the general level theme, while levels with lots of rapid jumping or doughnut blocks would use the athletic theme. With the exception of underground levels, snow levels (maybe not), and deserts, etc.

Menu:
1) Joke suggestion? 0/5
2) How is this at all the menu theme for a Mario game? 0/5

It's okay if you have a life. These suggestions help, but I don't depend on them or anything. Do what you need to do.

Nope. gif compression turned the red lines orange. The secret doesn't have anything to do with a new palace or different blocks. It's a well hidden extra, that is posssible to miss completely and not be able to go back and get. It's not at all necessary and won't count toward completion percentage, but completionists might start new files just to get it.

You finish World 4.

Yes, I do. You work on your English grammar. While technincally okay, sentences like that are considered rude. It's like giving an order. It would seem more clear if you left off the you and just said, "Finish World 4." Or the more polite, "Please finish World 4."

i wasn't being sarcastic... plus you have only four levels to go, not like a million more...

The emphasis made it look like sarcasm.

And remember, it's not just four levels. It's also four bosses. Added secrets. Another playable character I haven't even started yet. Cut scenes. Credits. Menus. Finding songs. Bet-testing. Bug Fixing. And the rest.

O_o oh.. that makes alot of sense now..

Nice, but playing the demo, the fireballs should bounce off non heat- objects. Like pipes. Also, why not have a bass as a boss? He can play notes to shoot out notes that hurt you!

Non heat objects? Not sure what that means. The fireballs react the same way they do in pretty much every super Mario game. The bosses are pretty much already planned out at this point. Thanks for suggestign anyway.

Non-Heat objects as in Koopa, Enemies and Bosses.

I'm really not sure what you mean. Are you saying enemies should deflect fireballs?

Woops, I meant Objects that aren't enemies or any sort of Powerup.
