One level to go.

Finally got that airship done. Took a lot of work. Needed to make new enemies, backgrounds, and scrolling mechanics. The boss was quite animation intensive too. Next stop, Mario's Castle, the final full length level. Hell, it will probably end up being a huge level.

... I AM SO SORRY FOR BEING AWAY FOR SO LONG! I've been really busy with real life and also a site called deviantart. But I'm back now; hopefully to stay.

The background looks incredible and I'm loving the shade of red which is odd seeing as red is my least favorite color. The pink enemies look like fetus's in a way; the way they throw screwdrivers instead of wrenches is a nice touch indeed.

I bet this game is going to be LEGENDARY when it is released, hoepfully in the near future. I've been checking your website for quite a while for updates and all your new stuff is funny; Dick Sombrero and Balls Maloney had me in stitches.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but it would be nice to have half the popularity of the first game.

I'm going to keep the boss a secret. The game needs to keep a bit of mystery I followed the Super Smash Bros. Brawl website closely before release, and when the game came out, there were no surprises. I don't want that to happen to you guys.

1. Not perfect, but I like it a lot better than what I'm using now. If I make the level really dark it would work better. 3/5
2. Not crazy about the intro. Overall I like it but, there's one instrument in there that doens't feel right. 2/5
3. Annoying, and a little too cheery. Though I am goingto be a bit more lenient on Mario remixes.

I'm really in need of some more music. I went through 5 pages of songs the other day to find a better boss fight song, and found nothing as good as the one I had. They're all trying to be too epic. Sometimes a boss fight is just as trivial as the level. Maybe I should search for miniboss music.

Map Day
1) There's something to this one. But it's a little too simple, and a lot too chiptuney. I let it loop a dozen times and it's actually not as annoying as I thought it would be. Still, the best so far. 2.5/5
2) Seems a bit too much like a theme that would tie into some other songs. I know, a weird criticism. Aty least I can see it working. 2/5

Map Night
1) First of all, one song couldn't possibly work for both the map screen and the final level. Thos esorts of songs should be completely different. Now that I'm actualy listening to the song, lol, I know a guy who's using this in a different game, so, he has dibs. NA/5

Menu
1) Bit too intense. I like how it kind of gears you up, but it really doesn't feel MArio enough for the menu theme. 1.5/5
2) Um, wut? This feels, spooky. I'm not sure you categorised this correctly. NOt a bad song, but not at all suited. 1/5

Cave Night
1) Feels a bit too goofy. Also a remix. 2/5 The cave music I have now could get into the final game, but feel free to suggest omething if you think it might be better.

Normal
1) No Mario RPG forest song. It worked where it was in that game, but nowhere else. 1/5
2) Really doesn't feel mario enough. I just can;t see this as the music for most of the levels in the game. 1.5/5

Whale
1) Nope, doesn't feel right. It's not a complaint I usually make, but it feels like there's not enoguh going on in this one. 2/5

1) I'm not hearing boss fight in this. At least not a Koopa 2 boss fight. It's too drawn out. I like the tempo. 2.5 /5
2) Too epic. It feels too significant. I need a more peppy theme. 2/5
3) It's good, but too much guitar I think. It kills the Mario feel. 2.5/5

Desert:
1) It would make a good desert song for a game. But more like an adventure game, rather than a platformer. I could totally hear this in Zelda. 2/5
2) Too dancey, a remix, too long, and too calm. Don't like it. 1/5
3) Pretty much the same feeling as the first desert song you suggested. 1.5/5
I'm actually fairly satisfied as far as desert themes go. I couls use more suited songs, but I won;t be too sad if I had to use the ones I have in the final game.

Normal:
1) Real annoying. ALmost like it's a parody of platformer themes. 1/5
2) Not bad. But a few instruments just don't feel right, and it's a bit bass heavy. 2.5/5
3) Don't really like this one. It's too suggestive of one particular environmnet. I need something more general. 1.5/5

Do you finish World 5?

I do, but I haven't yet.

I have higher standards for the songs that will be heard more often. They will define the game.

Normal:
1) Oh, come on. Most famous Star Fox song there is. In addition that guitar is really grating. 0.5/5
2) It might be acceptable, but for the weird chiipy fuzzy bits. I need a song that says "2D Platformer," but not "retro." It's still the best one so far. Seems to be growing on me. It would be great if not for a few parts. 2.5/5
3) Feels way too serious. Dangerous even. 1/5

Map:
1) I like this one, but it really doesn't work for this game. 1.5/5
2) It really does say ice too much. Other than that it's not too bad. 1.5/5
3) Uhhh, much too intense. Sounds like someone is about to get murdered. 1/5

Cave: Anothr one that's too serious. This might work well for a different game. The non-boss-level songs should be more fun than this. 1/5

Whale:
1) This song, with the visuals of the level, they just don't match up. Wow, this just doesn;t work at all. 1/5

Menu:
1) Too aggressive. I'm not sure why a boss battle song should work for a menu in a Mario game. At this point I'm going to make it a rule, no Rayman music, period/full stop. They have a feel to them that really only works for Rayman. Someting to do with the drums. 1/5
2) Completely the wrong mood. Listen to hte menu music from the first game. Something like that. 1/5

A lot of these are just bad, sorry to say. Only 2 of 11 were even close to being usable. I want to rule out remixes from non Mario games. The odds of one working are so small they're not worth listening to.

Ghost House) Too ambient. I kinda wnt to change directions with the ghosty house music. Make it more like music, less like ominous tones. 2/5

3) Better than the others, but too serious. he game is fun, remember. And it doesn;t kick in fast enough. Most of the time the player will be on the map screen for all of 3 seconds, so the map music needs to jump right in. 2/5
Boss.
1) Cool song, bro. But not for this game. New rule, no electric guitars. Well, not absolutely no electric guitars, but if you're not sure and it has electric guitars, don't bother. Whle we're at it, no acoustic guitars either. 2/5
2) Too medieval. Like, lord of thr igns type thingy. More pep. 1/5
3) Better. But too much rock style. I can see this in many games, but not a Mario game. 2/5

The song is too memorable from Sonic 3. Even if it wasn't, it's too circusy. Better to post one decent suggestion than a ton of crap ones, though.

I won't do a video until maybe during beta-testing. Like a launch tralier or something. I don't want to give the whole game away before it's out.

Map Night:
1. Doesn't really fit with the Mario vibe. :(
2. I"m trying to avoid chiptunes mostly. This one's not bad, but it's a bit slow. A faster version of this might work. :|
3. Seems a wee bit too recognisable, aswell as too gothic sounding. Pass. :|
4. Doesn't Feel general enough to work. If I was doing one song pre map screen per world, this would be good for a darker themed world maybe. :|
5. I really like this piece as a map music, just not for Koopa 2. Feels too specific. :|

Final Castle: Certainly suspenseful, but I'm actually looking for something more active and energetic. The level is turning out mostly hectic, and not so much forboding. :|

Boss Fight:
1. Seems a bit too epic. I sort of have a plan for the final boss music, so this can't be for regular bosses. It's also too orchestral sounding. :(
2. Seems pretty on the intense side. And doesn't suit the fast paced platformer boss fights too well. :|

2. There isn't much too this one. Its also a bit optimistic. Ideally Iwant the night music to be active, with a sense of danger, kind of like Vanilla Dome from SMW, only not that song itself. :|
Final Castle: I like it. It kind of has the mysterious quality to it. :)
Boss Fight: Too medieval. Doesn't fit with the theme of the game. :(
Ending/Credits: Meh. I think the credits music might end up being another song from the game, possibly the menu or bonus stage songs.
